Boomer’s Legacy
Comox Valley Therapeutic Riding Society
At the Comox Valley Therapeutic Riding Society (CVTRS), we believe there is no better feeling than lifting someone up and helping them realize their potential.
At the Comox Valley Therapeutic Riding Society (CVTRS), we believe there is no better feeling than lifting someone up and helping them realize their potential. Of course, we lift them up onto a horse, and the joy that brings to everyone is reflected in the riders’ smiles. Scout is one of our therapy horses and he is special in so many ways. Scout started life as a successful race horse‒even after an accident that left him without his left eye. When he was five, his new mom adopted him from a rescue society. Scout lived a fun life learning to be a riding horse, and in 2014, his mom brought him to work with her at the Comox Valley Therapeutic Riding Society and he quickly became an invaluable member of the team! Scout is gentle and sweet, and he gives his all to his riders. Scout is the first to make friends with a nervous child, his long neck reaching down to snuffle a shy face, his steady walk reassuring his rider that he will keep them safe no matter what comes their way. Without Scout in our program, we could not offer a spot to so many riders; his unique personality and his slim build make him a perfect choice for small children and adults with special needs.
Keeping a therapy horse is an expensive undertaking for the Society, but thanks to Boomer’s Legacy Fund, Scout’s care has been paid for the entire year. This incredibly generous partnership gives CVTRS the ability to keep our riding fees very low, ensuring that everyone who needs our services is able to afford them.
Thank you so much Boomer’s, you are changing lives!
